Course Description: This course will enable attendees to have a better understanding of the diagnosis of head and neck cancer including prevalence, pathology, and current treatment, including surgical intervention, radiation and chemotherapy. The course will focus on implications of head and neck cancer treatment including head and neck cancer related lymphedema. In addition, attendees will gain insight into cancer care pathways and survivorship issues as they relate to head and neck cancer related lymphedema. Included is an overview of lymphedema treatment and demonstration of an advanced pneumatic compression device used in the home to effectively manage head and neck cancer related lymphedema.
Who should attend: The course content is relevant to SLP’s, PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, physicians, nurses and others involved in the care of patients with lymphedema.
Accreditation: Tactile Medical will be providing two contact hours (.2 CE) for continuing education for Florida PT and OT. This activity has been designed to meet the continuing education requirements however, the attendee is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
