Location: The Bellwether - 1419 Carroll St, St. Louis, MO


Course Description: This oncology focused course will enable attendees to have a better understanding of the diagnosis of breast cancer including pathology and genetics, as well as the most current treatment using surgical intervention, radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The course will include the implications of breast cancer treatment and recognizing the signs and symptoms of breast cancer-related lymphedema. In addition, attendees will gain insight into cancer care pathways and survivorship issues as they relate to breast cancer-related lymphedema. Included is an overview of lymphedema treatment and demonstration with a advanced pneumatic compression device, used in the home to effectively manage breast cancer-related lymphedema.

 

Who should attend: The course content is relevant to PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, physicians, nurses and others involved in the care of patients with breast cancer-related treatment side effects and lymphedema.

 

Prerequisites: None

 

Accreditation: Tactile Medical will be providing two contact hours (.2 CE) for continuing education for Missouri and Illinois OT by AOTA, Illinois PT by IPTA, and Illinois Nursing by IBON #22 DMACC. This activity has been designed to meet the continuing education requirements for Missouri PT, however, the attendee is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
