Course Description:
Join us for a day of education on breast cancer-related lymphedema survivorship. This two-part day will include presentations by Dr. John Davis and Clinical Specialist, Jennifer Heit. Breakfast and lunch will be included, with a presentation by Dr. Davis in the morning, and a continuing education course by Jennifer Heit following lunch.
Course Objectives for the Continuing Education Course:
- Explain how breast cancer and its treatments affect the anatomy and physiology of soft tissue, lymphatics, and function for patients
- Explain the need for early identification of patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema based on updated National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines
- Describe how to assess impairments and lymphedema unique to patients with breast cancer
- Describe treatment options for breast cancer-relate lymphedema
- Explain the affects of breast cancer related treatment on the lymphatic system
Who should attend: The course content is relevant to PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, physicians, nurses and others involved in the care of patients with breast cancer-related treatment side effects and lymphedema.
Accreditation: Tactile Medical will be providing one contact hour (.1 CE) for continuing education for California RN and LPN. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 17771, for 1 contact hour. This activity has been designed to meet the state continuing education requirements for RN and LPN, however the attendee is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
