Course Description: Learn the anatomy and  physiology of the lymphatic and vascular systems. The course will provide education on the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic and vascular systems. The course will provide in-depth education regarding how the two systems are intimitely connected including the progression of the two disease processes. In addition, the course will enable attendees to recognize signs and symptoms of phlebolymphedema including recent evidence-based treatment options for phlebolymphedema.

Course Objectives:

  1. Discuss the basic anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system
  2. Explain the revision of the Starling’s Principle governing filtation and re-absorption of lymphatic fluid
  3. Define phlebolymphedema, and ecognize its signs and symptoms
  4. Explain economic and clinical benefits of an advanced pneumatic compression device for self-management of phlebolymphedema
  5. Explain how to tailor CDT to meet the patient need based on presentation and challenges unique to the phlebolymphedema patient

Who should attend: The course content is relevant to PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, SLPs, physicians, nurses and others involved in the care of patients with phlebolymphedema.

Accreditation: Tactile Medical will be providing one contact hour (.1 CE) for continuing education for Massachusetts PT/PTA, OT/OTA, RN and LPN. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 17771, for 1 contact hour.  This activity has been designed to meet the state continuing education requirements for RN and LPN, however the attendee is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
